Mark Williams wasn't bringing a Championship this year anyway. There is still an awful lot of bad takes floating around the media on how good the Lakers are going to be when Luka gets on the court. The Lakers are going to have to outscore teams to win. Luka is just not going to walk on the court next to Lebron and force their opponents to bow down. This isn't going to be the parting of the Red Sea like every dork talking head on TV or UA-cam makes it sound like it's going to be. Analyze this. The Lakers are probably going to have a starting back court of Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves playing with no rim protection behind them and 40-year-old El Matador defensive player Lebron James on the wing. All I can say is that the Lakers better score 140 points per game or they are probably going to lose. It won't take long for teams to figure out this Laker defense and then what adjustments can the Lakers possibly make. Nothing. Oh My God how opposing guards eyes are going to light up as they are coming down the court and see TWO SLOW WHITE GUYS who don't have a reputation of ever being good defenders in the Lakers backcourt with no rim protection on the back line and the bull fighter on the side who's probably not going to lift a finger for help defense anymore because he's got to save his energy for the offensive end. Defensive effort hasn't been Lebron's job for a while and I doubt he's going back at this point. Who thought this was going to actually work? Opposing offenses won't even have to hunt for a good matchup. The good matchups are all right there in front of them. Luka doesn't want to work on defense. Never has. Have you seen how many times Luka gets pissed off because he doesn't get a foul call on every play so instead of getting back on defense he's bitching at the refs while the rest of the Mavericks were dealing with a 5 on 4 on the other end of the court. Lebron does the exact same shit. I can't wait until I see a game where both Lebron and Luka stay back to bitch at the refs while the other 3 Lakers get abused on the other end. It's going to happen mark my words. Zebras can't change their stripes. Lebron and Luka are like two ships passing in the night. Luka is Lebron's replacement with the Laker franchise. Lebron just hasn't got the memo yet and is still hanging around. Results will be mixed with them together. It's going to be hilarious watching whichever one of them doesn't have the ball in his hands when the Lakers are on offense. This is exactly why Harden and Durant together never worked. If there were two balls it would probably work great. The reality is that the Lakers as currently constructed are not built for playoff basketball where it is all about matchups and adjustments. In the playoffs, opposing offenses are going to have free reign versus the Lakers and JJ Redick can't coach defense because defense has never been what he cares about and now Anthony Davis isn't there to make sure everything works out on the defensive end. Yikes!
